Scottish Midweek Mountaineering Club

Meets during the week when mountains are quiet

In 1981 the SMMC was set up to do something the existing mountaineering clubs didn't do. It was nothing more alarming than using the five days in the middle of the week for meets, but it set the SMMC apart from the other clubs and tapped a potential membership they couldn't reach.
Appealing to health workers, tourism business operators, guides, rangers, firemen, ministers, policemen and shift workers of all industries, as well as the growing army of fit and retired mountain types, the SMMC has gone from strength to strength.
If you need an explanation of what we mean by mountaineering, or meets, or midweek, follow the links.
New members are welcome at any time. You don't need to be proposed or sponsored, you just need a sense of humour and a willingness to join in! Contact details.
Members can contact each other using the contact register and find out what the club plans to do using the meets list.
all visitors to the site are welcome to read about what the club has been up to in the Midweeker pages, enjoy the mountain days galleries and other stuff on here.
Let us know what you think, and come back for more!
